Why claude-opus-4.8 instead of claude-opus?
Cursor ships built-in Claude Opus models that route through Cursor's servers, not your API key.
If you pick built-in Opus, Cursor ignores your key and endpoint.
claude-opus-4.8 is a separate model name. Cursor sends requests to your endpoint with your key. On our side it's full Opus.
Other models (optional)
| Cursor name | Model |
|---|---|
claude-opus-4.8 | claude-opus-4.8 |
claude-sonnet-5 | claude-sonnet-5 |
claude-haiku-4.5 | claude-haiku-4.5 |
claude-sonnet-4.6 | claude-sonnet-4.6 |
For Opus we recommend claude-opus-4.8 to avoid clashing with Cursor's built-in models.
